How to write a research paper?
A research paper is again, a one-way ticket to your graduation because you have to study something that would make a big contribution to society and even in the whole world. It requires you to be focused all the time and has actually the passion to finish the whole research paper or research study. Passion can be stemmed from the needs and wants of somebody. In other words, in order to have passion, the person should like and be interested in whatever he or he is about to do. In the case of this article, you as the researcher should find a topic that you are actually interested in.
After you already have a clue on what you are going to make a research out of, you have to ask questions that cannot be answered yet and hope that you will be the first one to do so. Make sure you dissect a general topic into the most specific elements so that that would be the focus of your study. Once you have already picked out a specific topic, you should have an original topic or continue a previous one but it is always advised to have a new topic that has never been encountered in the community or nation. But if ever there would be a time you would want to change your research paper because that can happen a lot especially for this kind of paper.

You have to also write what problem or problems does it posses and be confident enough that you can actually solve it through thorough research.While doing that, you have to start researching your topic online and in the library. This article will also introduce to you what a conference paper is. The conference paper is at the same time a research paper. The research paper has been summarized because it is one requirement for a paper to be presented in a research conference hence having the name of a conference paper. The goal is to simply get access and presented in a conference in a specific time and a specific place. The paper would be group by other conference papers with each having a time to present during the conference. This is termed as “conference proceedings”.
Regarding the time, it has a limit so that all of the papers that were accepted can be presented within the day and as for questions that might be asked by the panelists, commentators or a fellow researcher in the place where the conference is currently being held.
In regards to how you write a conference paper, you have to take note of the following:
- Look for a conference where you can actually present your paper and make sure it’s feasible and accessible.
- Have the paper ready and make sure it is presented in the type of conference that accepts your kind of research topic all the time.
- Construct an abstract that is structured in a way that you would assume the audience would get hooked on to it from the very start of your presentation.
- Since the research paper has already been written, you just then have to make it shorter since conferences usually give you a limited amount of time to present your paper in front of a crowd.
- Follow the rules of the conference. If that means mentioning only a few theories that you used in your research, then you have to follow that as well. Let us say if they require you to include the only important related literature or give the gist of all of the literature, go and write it in a way wherein it is short and concise.
- Have the body and conclusion. This will require you to shorten and summarize the relevant parts in your research paper in order for it to be accepted as a conference ready paper.
Writing a conference paper and getting it accepted is probably one of the most fulfilling feelings you get because it is a rare opportunity. The competition is tougher here because you will be presenting along with other presenters that have a good research paper. Getting that step is already a big leap in one’s own research life. This is a big leap because high-end profile researchers would also be present. It will also be kind of scary because of other researchers that would soon enough question your research if ever they would find an error or an inconsistency with your research results. Do not get rattled by that. If you are in the midst of being asked or questioned, do not lose your composure because it would make you nervous even more and you would lose track in actually answering the question and you will highly experience having a memory block.
In order to avoid being questioned, make sure you prove your statement with sufficient facts and results. Explain it properly and don’t leave out important details. Make sure you master the ins and outs of your research paper. The only way for you to do this is you study hard because you will eventually master your research.
When you get to answer the questions, you will be given more credibility especially if it answers the questions of some researchers and panelists with confidence and conviction. This will add more strength to your conference paper and you will be able to convince doubter or people who think your research is not that strong otherwise.

Since we have already brought the word “format” to in the last paragraph, let us now go to what is the proper format of a academic or research paper. Researches that have been published mostly follow the APA format. If you ever researched for more related literature or PDFs of some research material, there are mostly following the APA format especially if the research published is new.
This is the format of a research and academic paper by the APA:
- Use white 8 ½ x 11” paper
- Make 1 inch margins on the top, bottom, and sides
- The first word in every paragraph should be indented one half inch
- APA recommends using Times New Roman font, size 12
- Double space the entire research paper
- Include a page header known as the “running head” at the top of every page (To make this process easier, set your word processor to automatically add these components onto each page)
- To create the running head/page header, insert page numbers justified to the right-hand side of the paper (do not put p. or pg. in front of page numbers)
- Then type “TITLE OF YOUR PAPER” justified to the left using all capital letters
- If your title is long, this running head title should be a shortened version of the title of your entire paper
