Preschool is that stage of a human life span where children aged from 3-5 are still learning to use their muscles as a form of body development and combine play as a form of learning. Their preschool lesson plans differ from other types of lesson plans.

7 Steps to create the Best Preschool Lesson Plan

Step 1: Create a Title

While creating a lesson plan for preschoolers, make sure that you have a clear title for it. Divide your plan into two- one being the consistent plans for the entire school year and the other being the way of approach towards learning for the child.

Step 2: Objectives/Goals

Objectives are those that you want your students to know and learn at the end of the lesson. Create certain objectives and goals you want the children to reach through the process of learning. Remember that they will use these methods throughout their life, so make it impactable for them.

Step 3: Evaluate your Student’s Skills

Since preschool children develop faster and differently, make sure you know your student’s skills, their learning, verbal and reading abilities, their knowledge in certain aspects, etc. This will help you create a better lesson plan for your students learning. Make sure you consider their interests as well, that way you will know how and what they think about certain things. Try spending as much as time possible with the child, so you know them better.

Step 4: Design the Lesson

Each day can begin with a new theme. This can really help your students understand the different perspectives of different people their age. Themes can revolve around anything. Ask the students if they would be interested in coming up with a unique theme of their own and consider it for the next day. Get your plan ready at least a week or two before the class, to be absolutely prepared to teach.

Step 5: Create a Chronological Timetable

Create a daily schedule for your class as to what happens in which time. A timeline will actually help you execute your plan without much effort and run things smoothly. Fill in the day with fun and play activities throughout the day so that students will love to attend school without fail.

Step 6: Implementing the Plan and Resources

Make a list of the materials and resources you need to use to execute your lesson plan. Make a visual lesson plan PDF, videos, music, etc. to keep the students engaged in different ways. Gather all the materials needed for activities like stationery, toys and other material that might come in handy in the class. Build the class around the area of fun and play so that they are not bored.

Step 7: Assessment and Evaluation

Assess your students in a fair manner. Make sure that you have an interaction with their parents about the child’s doing in the school. That will give them and you a better idea on how to approach the child if any issues persist. You can also invite parents to volunteer for fun activities with all the students once in a while.
