5 Steps to Drafting a Production Run Sheet
A production run sheet when prepared by the production team has to keep more than one thing in mind. Each production run sheet is different from the other depending upon the budget and magnitude of the film, the cast and crew members involved, the sets and locations, etc. The general format, however, involves certain common components. The steps to drafting any kind of production run sheets are:
Step 1: Be Careful of the Details
The production run time, the number of events, the stop time, dead time, title of the production, etc should be accurate to avoid any confusion on the part of the technical team and the cast and crew members.
Step 2: Maintain the Excel Format
In any kind of schedule that involves agenda to time graphing, the excel format works the best. It helps in accurate recording as well as easy tracking of details.
Step 3: Make Sure All the Departments are Involved and Informed
For the successful coordination and functioning, all the concerned departments and their activities should be drafted one after the other in coordination. Make sure they have the cue to their duty mentioned in the run sheet.
Step 4: Reserve Adequate Time for the Teams to Do Their Duties
Make credible run sheets so that each team gets time enough to do their job-say change the set, or the lights. Allowing limited time slots will create confusion or worse a mess.
Step 5: Contact Information is a Must
Since the entire higher production team gets a copy of the production cue sheet or run sheet it is essential that contact information is provided. Questions and doubts may arise, and in order to help the crew members with it and to promote the smooth running of the production, there has to be adequate contact information.
