A travel album usually have landscapes as the subject of photography. This is due to the following reasons:
- There are landscapes that can only be seen in specific locations around the world.
- Nature photography can exude a natural beauty that cannot be found in any other subjects.
- Landscapes can have their original color schemes and structures, which are unique and a great focus of interest especially when photographed.
- As seasons and weather changes, landscapes also change in terms of how they look.
Events
A travel album does not necessarily need to feature landscapes and locations. It may be used to compile all the events that have happened in different locations that have been experienced by the photographer during his or her travels. Events that may be included in a travel album are as follows:
- The festivals celebrated in different locations may be compiled for people to see the differences on how these festivals are done. The programs of different festivals and the costumes that people wear are also great subjects for photography.
- Special events may also happen on specific dates in various locations which may include interesting subjects to capture. An example of these special events is the northern lights.
- Gatherings of people to celebrate an occasion, a culture, or a tradition may also be interesting subjects that can be compiled to an album.

- If you are creating a travel album without a specific theme, you may actually put together photographs that were taken at the same locations or those that reflect a specific character so that your travel album will be organized.
- Create timelines and other date recordings so that you can remember the dates when the photographs were taken.
