Introduction
This is a hands-on interactive lesson where students will go outside and explore colours and shapes in the school garden. Students are not only going to experience the outdoors with their senses, but also identify shapes and colours present in nature.
Objectives
By the end of this lesson, pupils should be able to:
-
Identify and describe at least five different colors seen in the garden.
-
Identify and describe at least five different shapes seen in the garden.
-
Use descriptive language to relate shapes and colors to familiar objects (e.g., "This leaf is as green as a grasshopper")
Activities
Activity 1: Color Hunt (30 mins)
Students will carry a color chart and go around the garden, matching and naming the colors they see. They can collect an object of each color found to past on a color collage.
Activity 2: Shape Detective (30 mins)
Students will identify different shapes in plants, flowers, and garden decorations. Using a sketch pad, they will draw the shapes they find and label them accordingly.
Activity 3: Nature Artwork (30 mins)
Using the collected objects and drawings, students will create a nature artwork and present their work to the class, explaining the shapes and colors they found in their art pieces.
Conclusion
The students should be able to understand the different shapes and colors found in nature and be able to describe them using their own words. The nature artwork will serve as a tangible reminder of the lesson's outdoor exploration.
