Restaurant Cashier Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Restaurant Cashier to join our team. As a Restaurant Cashier, you will be responsible for handling transactions, managing the cash register, and providing outstanding customer service.

I. Key Responsibilities

As a Restaurant Cashier, your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Greeting customers as they enter the restaurant and providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Taking customer orders accurately and efficiently, both in-person and over the phone.

Managing cash register operations, including handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions.

Providing receipts, ensuring accurate orders, and handling any discrepancies or questions.

Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including the cash register area and surrounding areas.

Assisting in the preparation of daily financial reports and balancing the cash register at the end of each shift.

II. Requirements

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in hospitality or related field is a plus.

Previous experience as a cashier or in a customer service role within a restaurant or retail environment.

Strong numerical skills with the ability to handle transactions accurately and efficiently.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact positively with customers and team members.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stress effectively.

Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems.

III. Work Environment

The Restaurant Cashier should be prepared to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Flexibility in work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods and handle light to moderate lifting.
