As a Forest and Conservation Technician, your main role will be to maintain and protect our forests and their occupants. Your significant duties will include working closely and efficiently with a diverse team of researchers, forest scientists, and other conservation technicians.
An Associate’s degree in a relevant field such as forestry, environmental science, or conservation science.
Experience with the application of forestry principles and practices.
In addition, experience with field equipment, advanced tree identification skills, and GIS software is preferred.
An innate understanding of forest ecology coupled with rigorous attention to detail, perseverance, and the ability to work independently in tough terrain and harsh weather conditions is essential to this role.
Regular forest and soil surveys
Support forest conservation plans and activities
Assist in the preparation of forest reports
Monitor activities to ensure adherence to environmental regulations
Perform controlled burns and reforestation
Analyze forest health and implement disease control measures
Due to the nature of the job, candidates should have a high degree of physical fitness, ability to swim, and a valid driver’s license.
