INTRODUCTION

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to provide comprehensive support for our valued employees during significant life events associated with the arrival of a new child. We recognize the importance of work-life balance and family well-being and aim to ensure that our employees can embrace these moments without sacrificing their careers.

Scope

This policy encompasses various forms of leave to support employees in different family-building situations, including maternity leave, paternity leave, and adoption leave. It applies to all regular full-time and part-time employees, regardless of their gender, marital status, or the method of family expansion chosen.

Policy Owner

The Stellar Tech Human Resources Department is the steward of this policy and will oversee its proper implementation and any necessary revisions. Our dedicated HR team is committed to ensuring that employees fully understand their rights and benefits under this policy and to address any questions or concerns that may arise.

MATERNITY LEAVE

Eligibility

Maternity leave is available to all expectant mothers, regardless of their tenure with the company. To be eligible, employees must provide reasonable advance notice of their leave and the expected date of childbirth. This allows us to plan for temporary staffing adjustments during the employee's absence.

Duration

Maternity leave typically lasts for 3 months, commencing on the date of childbirth. In cases of medical complications or cesarean deliveries, additional leave may be granted as per the guidance of the employee's healthcare provider.

Notice and Documentation

To request maternity leave, employees must provide notice to their supervisor and the HR department at least 4 weeks before the intended start date. Medical documentation confirming the pregnancy and the expected due date may be required.

PATERNITY LEAVE

Eligibility

Paternity leave is available to all eligible employees of Stellar Tech who become fathers through birth, adoption, or surrogacy. To be eligible for paternity leave, employees must have completed at least 3 months of continuous employment with the company.

Duration

Eligible employees are entitled to 6 weeks of paternity leave. This leave can be taken as a continuous block or, with prior approval from HR, in separate segments within six months from the child's birth or placement.

Notice and Documentation

Employees must provide 4 weeks of their intention to take paternity leave, along with the expected start date. If the leave is due to the impending birth of a child, the employee should provide an estimated due date.

Documentation such as a birth certificate, adoption certificate, or surrogacy agreement must be submitted to HR to confirm the reason for paternity leave.

The table below lists the benefits that employees receive while on paternity leave. These benefits help to ensure that employees can focus on their family responsibilities without financial or healthcare concerns.

ADOPTION LEAVE

Eligibility

Adoption leave is available to all eligible employees of Stellar Tech who are adopting a child. To be eligible for adoption leave, employees must have completed at least 3 months of continuous employment with the company.

Duration

Eligible employees are entitled to 6 weeks of adoption leave. This leave can be taken as a continuous block or, with prior approval from HR, in separate segments within 6 months from the date of the child's placement.

Notice and Documentation

Employees must provide 4 weeks of their intention to take adoption leave, along with the expected start date. Documentation, such as the adoption certificate or placement agreement, must be submitted to HR to confirm the adoption.

LEAVE EXTENSION

Eligibility for Leave Extension

Employees who have exhausted their initial maternity, paternity, or adoption leave entitlement may be eligible to request a leave extension under certain circumstances. Eligibility for leave extension will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and is subject to approval by Stellar Tech.

Procedure for Requesting Leave Extension

Employees seeking a leave extension must submit a written request to their immediate supervisor or the HR Department at least 14 days prior to the expiration of their original leave. The request should include the following information:

• The reason for the extension request.

• Expected duration of the extension.

• Any supporting documentation, such as medical certificates or adoption-related documents.

Approval Process

The HR Department will review all leave extension requests and make a determination based on the provided information. Approval or denial of the extension will be communicated to the employee within 3 days of receiving the request.

Approved leave extensions may be granted for reasons such as unforeseen medical complications, the need for additional bonding time with a new child, or other extenuating circumstances. Extensions may be granted for a period of up to 3 months.

RETURN TO WORK

Notification of Return

Employees who have taken maternity, paternity, or adoption leave are required to provide their supervisor and the Human Resources Department with at least 4 weeks' advance notice of their intended date of return to work. This notice is essential for proper workforce planning and ensures that necessary arrangements are in place for a smooth transition.

Accommodations and Flexibility

At Stellar Tech, we understand that the transition back to work after leave can be challenging. We are committed to providing accommodations and flexibility to support our employees during this period. Upon return, employees may request reasonable accommodations, such as modified work schedules or temporary adjustments to job responsibilities, to ease their reintegration into the workplace. FLEXIBLE WORK ARRANGEMENTS

Telecommuting Options

In recognition of the importance of work-life balance, Stellar Tech may offer eligible employees the option to work remotely during their maternity, paternity, or adoption leave extension period. Telecommuting arrangements are subject to mutual agreement between the employee and their supervisor and must not adversely affect job performance or business operations.

Reduced Hours

Employees may request a reduced work schedule during their leave extension period to accommodate their personal needs and responsibilities. Requests for reduced hours should be submitted in writing to the HR Department or the employee's supervisor at least 14 days before the desired schedule change.

Job Sharing

Job sharing arrangements, where two employees share the responsibilities of a single position, may be considered during leave extensions. Job-sharing proposals should be submitted to HR and approved on a case-by-case basis, taking into account business needs and feasibility.
