Behavior Contract

THIS AGREEMENT is made this [DATE], by and between [Student's Name], henceforth known as "the Student", residing at [Student's Address], and [Teacher's Name], henceforth known as "the Teacher", residing at [Teacher's Address]. The parties involved in this contract are [Student's Name] hereinafter referred to as "the Student", and [Teacher's Name], hereinafter referred to as "the Teacher".

1. PURPOSE

This behavior contract is established to clearly define expectations and promote positive behavior within the classroom of [School Name], a middle school known for its commitment to academic excellence and fostering a supportive learning environment. The objective is to create a conducive classroom environment that supports growth, learning, and mutual respect among students and teachers alike.

2. BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS

The Student agrees upon the following behavior patterns:

  • Respect: Treat others with kindness and consideration. Use appropriate language and gestures.

  • Responsibility: Complete assigned tasks and responsibilities promptly.

  • Safety: Follow safety rules and guidelines to ensure the well-being of oneself and others.

  • Cooperation: Collaborate with peers and authority figures to achieve common goals.

  • Attendance/Punctuality: Attend all scheduled sessions/meetings on time unless otherwise

3. CONSEQUENCES

If the Student fails to obey the behavioral expectations mentioned in the above clause, the Teacher has the right to:

Positive Behavior

Negative Behavior

  • Verbal praise and acknowledgment.

  • Incentives such as extra privileges or rewards.

  • Written commendation or recognition in the school newsletter.

  • Opportunity to participate in special classroom activities or projects.

  • Verbal warning and discussion about the behavior.

  • Loss of privileges or access to certain activities.

  • Written reflection or assignment to address the behavior.

  • Parent/guardian notification if necessary.

4. SUPPORT/RESOURCES

The School will provide appropriate resources and support to help the Student meet the behavioral expectations.

4.1 Access to counseling or mediation services

The student can meet with a counselor or mediator to address personal or academic concerns, manage emotions and conflicts, and develop coping strategies.

4.2 Additional educational resources or support materials

The student will receive extra learning materials like worksheets, textbooks, or online resources to reinforce lessons and improve understanding in challenging areas.

4.3 Regular check-ins and progress monitoring

The teacher will have regular one-on-one meetings with the student to discuss progress, identify areas for improvement, and provide feedback on behavior and academics, ensuring timely support.

5. REVIEW AND REVISION

This behavior contract will be reviewed on [DATE] to assess progress and make any necessary revisions. Amendments to the contract may be made by mutual agreement of all parties involved.
