Sorority Bylaws
Article I: Name and Purpose
Section 1: Name
The name of this organization shall be [Your Company Name], hereinafter referred to as the "Sorority."
Section 2: Purpose
The purpose of the Sorority shall be to promote sisterhood, academic excellence, philanthropy, and personal growth among its members. The Sorority shall strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters leadership development and lifelong friendships.
Article II: Membership
Section 1: Eligibility
Membership in the Sorority shall be open to female students who are enrolled at [University/College Name] and meet the academic and character requirements set forth by the Sorority.
Section 2: Recruitment
Recruitment activities shall be conducted according to the guidelines set forth by [University/College Council]. The Sorority shall adhere to all recruitment rules and regulations established by the university and national sorority governing bodies.
Section 3: New Member Education
New members shall participate in an educational program designed to introduce them to the history, values, and traditions of the Sorority. This program shall be overseen by the New Member Educator and shall adhere to all university policies regarding hazing and initiation rituals.
Article III: Leadership
Section 1: Executive Board
The Sorority shall be governed by an Executive Board consisting of elected officers, including but not limited to a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Recruitment Chair. These officers shall be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Sorority and shall serve a term of one academic year.
Section 2: Duties of Officers
Each officer shall have specific duties and responsibilities outlined in the Sorority's constitution and bylaws. These duties may include but are not limited to, organizing meetings, managing finances, coordinating events, and representing the Sorority to the university and community.
Article IV: Meetings
Section 1: Regular Meetings
Regular meetings of the Sorority shall be held [Frequency], at a time and place determined by the Executive Board. All members are expected to attend these meetings unless excused by the President or Vice President.
Section 2: Special Meetings
Special meetings may be called by the President or upon written request of 80% of the active members. Notice of such meetings shall be given at least 2 hours in advance, and the purpose of the meeting shall be stated in the notice.
Article V: Decision-Making Processes
Section 1: Voting
Decisions regarding the Sorority's policies, activities, and expenditures shall be made by a majority vote of the active members present at a meeting where a quorum is established. A quorum shall consist of 80 % of the active membership.
Section 2: Executive Board Authority
The Executive Board shall have the authority to make decisions on behalf of the Sorority between meetings, provided that such decisions are consistent with the Sorority's constitution and bylaws.
Article VI: Disciplinary Actions
Section 1: Violations
Any member found to violate the Sorority's constitution, bylaws, or code of conduct may be subject to disciplinary action, including but not limited to probation, suspension, or expulsion from the Sorority.
Section 2: Disciplinary Procedures
Disciplinary proceedings shall be conducted in accordance with the Sorority's constitution and bylaws, and with due process afforded to the accused member. The Executive Board shall have the authority to impose disciplinary sanctions, subject to review by the general membership.
Article VII: Amendments
Section 1: Proposal
Proposed amendments to these bylaws may be submitted in writing to the Executive Board by any active member. The Executive Board shall review the proposed amendments and present them to the general membership for consideration.
Section 2: Approval
Amendments to these bylaws shall be adopted by a two-thirds majority vote of the active members present at a meeting where a quorum is established. Amendments shall take effect immediately upon adoption, unless otherwise specified.
Article VIII: Ratification
These bylaws shall be considered ratified upon approval by a two-thirds majority vote of the active members present at a meeting where a quorum is established. Once ratified, these bylaws shall supersede any previous bylaws and shall govern the operations, conduct, and structure of the Sorority.
