Job Overview

The School Associate supports the administration and operation of the school, ensuring smooth day-to-day activities. This role involves administrative duties, student support, and collaboration with faculty and staff to create a positive and effective educational environment. The School Associate must comply with all school policies and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support

  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of school communications, including newsletters, emails, and announcements.

  • Maintain student records, attendance, and academic performance databases in compliance with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulations.

  • Handle reception duties, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and managing inquiries.

Student Support

  • Provide assistance to students with their daily needs, including conflict resolution, academic guidance, and emotional support.

  • Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom activities to ensure their safety and well-being.

  • Assist with the organization and supervision of school events, field trips, and extracurricular activities.

Faculty Collaboration

  • Support teachers with classroom preparation, including organizing materials, setting up equipment, and managing supplies.

  • Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs in accordance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) requirements.

  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training programs as required.

Operational Duties

  • Coordinate with the school maintenance team to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of school facilities.

  • Manage inventory of school supplies and place orders as needed.

  • Handle minor disciplinary issues in accordance with the school's code of conduct and escalate serious matters to appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher in Education, Administration, or related field preferred.

  • Previous experience in a school setting or educational environment is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and school management software.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Knowledge of FERPA, IDEA, and other relevant educational regulations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.

  • Capability to work in a dynamic and sometimes stressful environment.

Work Environment

  • Standard school setting with exposure to moderate noise levels.
