Job Overview

The Church Audio Visual Technician is responsible for managing and operating audio and visual equipment to support worship services, special events, and other church activities. This role ensures high-quality sound and visual presentations that enhance the worship experience and support the church’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

Audio Equipment Management

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot sound systems including microphones, speakers, mixers, and amplifiers.

  • Adjust sound levels to ensure clear, balanced audio during services and events.

  • Perform regular maintenance and repairs on audio equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Visual Equipment Management

  • Set up and operate visual equipment such as projectors, screens, and video cameras.

  • Ensure seamless integration of visual presentations, slideshows, and video content during services and events.

  • Manage video recording and live streaming to provide high-quality coverage of church activities.

Technical Support

  • Provide technical assistance to worship leaders, speakers, and other participants as needed.

  • Train and supervise volunteers or staff on the use of audio and visual equipment.

Event Preparation

  • Collaborate with the worship team and event organizers to plan and execute technical requirements for special services and events.

  • Conduct pre-event equipment checks and sound checks to ensure readiness.

Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution

  • Identify and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize disruption during services and events.

  • Maintain a log of equipment issues and repairs for continuous improvement.

Maintenance and Inventory

  • Keep accurate records of equipment inventory and order supplies as needed.

  • Ensure all equipment is stored and maintained properly to extend its lifespan.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certification or degree is a plus.

Experience

  • Proven experience with audio and visual equipment in a live event or worship setting.

  • Familiarity with sound mixers, microphones, projectors, and video cameras.

Skills

  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting audio and visual equipment.

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills with the ability to work well under pressure.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to lift and move audio and visual equipment up to 50 lbs.

  2. Comfort with standing for extended periods and working in various lighting conditions.

Additional Skills (Optional)

  1. Knowledge of audio and video editing software.

  2. Experience with live streaming platforms and software.

Work Schedule

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
