FADE IN:

EXT. ABANDONED TRAIN STATION - DUSK

A deserted train station bathed in the orange hues of the setting sun. Rusting tracks and overgrown weeds add to the desolate feel. An old, graffiti-covered bench sits on the platform.

SFX: The distant hum of a passing car.

CAMERA: Slowly pans to reveal a lone figure, JAMES (30s), wearing a worn-out coat and carrying a duffel bag. He’s sitting on the bench, looking at his watch and checking the train schedule board, which shows no signs of life.

INT. JAMES' MIND - FLASHBACK

In a sepia-toned flashback, we see James in his youthful prime. He’s laughing and carefree, dancing with EMILY (late 20s), a woman with bright eyes and a warm smile.

JAMES (V.O.): (voiceover, nostalgic) I used to think life was just a series of moments. And I thought we'd have forever to collect them.

BACK TO PRESENT

EXT. ABANDONED TRAIN STATION - DUSK

James snaps back to reality as he notices a WOMAN (late 50s) approaching. She’s dressed in simple clothes, and her eyes are tired yet kind.

WOMAN: Is this where the last train stops?

JAMES: (looking up, surprised) There hasn’t been a train here in years.

WOMAN: (sighs, sits down next to James) I was hoping to catch it one last time. It was supposed to be my daughter’s final ride home.

James looks at her with a mix of curiosity and empathy.

JAMES: I’m sorry.

WOMAN: (softly) It’s been a long journey. I’m trying to find closure. I used to bring her here. She loved trains.

James nods, understanding.

EXT. TRAIN STATION - NIGHT

The sun has fully set. The station is illuminated by the pale light of a single, flickering bulb. James and the Woman sit in silence.

WOMAN: (tearfully) You know, Emily used to talk about the future like it was a promise. She’d make plans and dreams for every day.

JAMES: (emotional) I know that feeling. We had so many dreams. But dreams don’t always come true.

EXT. TRAIN STATION - NIGHT

A distant rumble of a train can be heard. Both James and the Woman look up with a glimmer of hope in their eyes.

SFX: The screeching sound of a train approaching.

The old station's lights flicker brighter as the train’s headlights pierce the darkness.

EXT. TRAIN STATION - PLATFORM

The train screeches to a halt, and the doors slowly open. James and the Woman stand, their faces illuminated by the train’s lights. A CONDUCTOR (40s) steps out, looking puzzled.

CONDUCTOR: (looking around) Last stop. What are you folks doing here?

WOMAN: (tearfully) I wanted to see the last train. One final farewell.

CONDUCTOR: (softens) I see. This train’s been out of commission for years, but it seems you two needed it tonight.

James and the Woman exchange a knowing glance.

INT. TRAIN - NIGHT

James and the Woman board the train. Inside, it’s surprisingly well-preserved, with dusty but comfortable seats. They sit in a quiet, empty compartment.

WOMAN: (looking around) It’s just like it used to be.

JAMES: (smiling faintly) Maybe sometimes, things come back when we need them most.

EXT. TRAIN STATION - NIGHT

The train slowly pulls away from the station. The Woman and James look out the window as the station becomes a distant, dim silhouette.

WOMAN: (sighing contentedly) Thank you for joining me tonight. I think I finally found what I needed.

JAMES: (looking out the window, thoughtful) I think we both did.

The train continues into the night, its lights disappearing into the darkness.

FADE OUT.
