Written by: [Your Name]

Genre: Single-Camera Comedy

Logline:

In a quirky, small-town office supply store, a misfit staff navigates their eccentric boss, unusual customers, and personal mishaps, all while trying to keep their sanity intact and their workplace in order.

Episode Title: The Big Presentation

Cold Open:

INT. OFFICE SUPPLY STORE – MORNING

The store is quiet and sparsely populated. JANE (30s, the sarcastic and dry-witted store manager) is restocking shelves. The door chimes as a customer, MR. HARRIS (50s, an overly enthusiastic local businessman), bursts in.

MR. HARRIS
(cheerful)
Good morning! I’m here for the big presentation supplies!

JANE
(dryly)
Good morning. What’s the occasion? Selling the company to aliens?

MR. HARRIS
(laughing)
No, just a pitch to the town council. It’s going to be epic.

Jane looks skeptical but nods and starts gathering supplies.

Teaser:

INT. OFFICE SUPPLY STORE – LATER THAT DAY

The store is now bustling with activity. The camera focuses on DAVE (late 20s, the well-meaning but clumsy stock boy) who is struggling to put up a display. SARAH (early 30s, the over-enthusiastic assistant) is trying to organize the office’s chaos.

SARAH
(excitedly)
I’ve made a motivational playlist for us! It’s all ’80s hits. Nothing says productivity like “Eye of the Tiger”!

DAVE
(confused)
I thought we were more of a “Take It Easy” kind of place.

SARAH
(grinning)
That’s why you’re the stock boy and I’m the assistant manager.

The playlist starts playing “Eye of the Tiger” and Dave tries to focus but ends up knocking over a stack of paper. Jane walks by, rolls her eyes, and heads to her office.

Act One:

INT. OFFICE SUPPLY STORE – MANAGER’S OFFICE – LATER

Jane is in her cluttered office, busy working on a spreadsheet. The phone rings. She answers it.

JANE
(annoyed)
Jane speaking.

MR. HARRIS (V.O.)
(overly excited)
Jane! Guess what? I need a custom presentation board for today!

JANE
(frowning)
You’re aware it’s 10 a.m., right? And the board is for noon?

MR. HARRIS (V.O.)
(excitedly)
I trust you, Jane! It’s going to be spectacular. Just make sure it’s big and flashy!

Jane hangs up and mutters to herself.

JANE
(muttering)
Spectacular. Great. Just what we needed.

INT. OFFICE SUPPLY STORE – MAIN FLOOR – LATER

Dave is attempting to assemble the custom presentation board while Sarah is energetically rearranging office supplies.

DAVE
(looking frustrated)
Why does everything have to be so complicated?

SARAH
(cheerfully)
Because it’s a fun challenge! Plus, we get to make Mr. Harris’s day.

DAVE
(sarcastic)
Yeah, nothing says “fun” like staplers that don’t staple and markers that won’t mark.

INT. OFFICE SUPPLY STORE – BACK ROOM – LATER

Jane is pacing around, looking at the clock. She looks stressed. Her phone buzzes with a message from Mr. Harris.

TEXT MESSAGE:
“Is it ready yet? I need to make an entrance!”

JANE
(under her breath)
Why do I feel like I’m about to star in a disaster movie?

Sarah enters with a “cheerful” look on her face.

SARAH
(holding up a glittery sign)
Ta-da! Ready for the big show!

JANE
(skeptical)
I hope Mr. Harris likes glitter.

Jane tries to hide her frustration.

Act Two:

INT. OFFICE SUPPLY STORE – FRONT DESK – NOON

Mr. Harris arrives with a grand entrance, complete with a horn sound effect from his phone. Jane, Sarah, and Dave stand by the desk, nervously.

MR. HARRIS
(beaming)
It’s showtime!

He unveils the flashy presentation board, covered in glitter and neon colors. Jane and Sarah exchange worried glances.

MR. HARRIS
(excitedly)
Look at this beauty! It’s going to wow the council!

Dave accidentally knocks over a container of pens, which spill everywhere. The pens start rolling towards Mr. Harris’s presentation board.

JANE
(panicking)
No! Not the pens!

Jane rushes to gather the pens while Mr. Harris tries to salvage his board.

MR. HARRIS
(trying to stay positive)
It’s a little… colorful, but it’s still going to work!

Sarah starts using a vacuum cleaner to pick up the pens, causing more chaos.

SARAH
(muttering)
And here I thought the playlist was the biggest challenge.

INT. OFFICE SUPPLY STORE – AFTERNOON

The council meeting has ended. Mr. Harris comes back to the store, looking exhausted but relieved.

MR. HARRIS
(grinning)
You won’t believe it! They loved the board. The glitter was a hit!

JANE
(surprised)
Really? That’s… unexpected.

MR. HARRIS
(enthusiastic)
Yep! You all did an amazing job. Here, take this as a thank you.

He hands Jane a gift card to a fancy restaurant.

JANE
(smiling)
Thanks. Maybe next time, we’ll add a glitter filter to the store.

They all laugh, and Mr. Harris exits.

INT. OFFICE SUPPLY STORE – LATE AFTERNOON

Jane, Sarah, and Dave are sitting around the break room table, relaxing.

DAVE
(cheerfully)
Well, that was a day. What’s next on the agenda?

SARAH
(grinning)
How about “Take It Easy” and go home early?

JANE
(smirking)
Sounds good. But let’s keep the glitter in the back room next time.

They all laugh as the camera pans out, showing the chaos of the day slowly coming to order.

INT. OFFICE SUPPLY STORE – BACK ROOM – EVENING

The back room is a mess of leftover glitter and confetti. Jane is cleaning up, and Dave is helping.

DAVE
(sighing)
You know, this place will never be boring.

JANE
(smiling)
Nope. And that’s why we keep coming back.

They finish cleaning up, and Jane looks around with a sense of accomplishment. The camera zooms out, and the screen fades to black.

End Credits

Notes for the Director:

  • Tone: Emphasize the quirky and chaotic nature of the office environment. The humor should come from the characters’ interactions and their reactions to the increasingly absurd situations.

  • Character Dynamics: Focus on the contrast between Jane’s dry wit, Sarah’s over-the-top enthusiasm, and Dave’s clumsiness. Their differing personalities should drive much of the comedy.

  • Set Design: Ensure the store looks cluttered but functional. The presentation board should be exaggeratedly flashy to highlight the comedic effect.

Music & Sound:

  • Intro Music: Upbeat, quirky instrumental.

  • Background Music: Light, playful tunes to match the office setting.

  • Special Effects: Sound effects: glittery board and pen mishap.
