THE LAST SUNSET
Written by [Your Name]
Scene 1: INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
The room is dimly lit, with a flickering fireplace casting shadows on the walls. A storm rages outside, the sound of thunder rumbling faintly. JOHN (30s, disheveled) enters, dripping wet from the rain. He slams the door behind him, causing the windows to rattle.
JOHN
(voice shaking)
I can’t believe it’s still pouring out there.
John throws his keys on the table and rubs his hands together to warm them. His face is etched with frustration.
Scene 2: EXT. STREET - NIGHT
The rain is relentless as JOHN stands under the awning of a small, dimly lit café. The streets are almost deserted, with only the occasional car passing by. He looks up at the neon sign of the café, its light reflecting in the puddles at his feet.
WAITRESS
(sympathetically)
We’re closing soon, but I can make you a hot coffee to go.
John nods gratefully, shivering as he pulls his coat tighter around him. He watches as the WAITRESS prepares the coffee, her movements slow and deliberate.
A close-up of John's face reveals a look of weary relief as he takes the steaming cup from the Waitress.
Scene 3: INT. JOHN’S APARTMENT - LIVING ROOM - LATER
John sits on the couch, sipping his coffee, the room now illuminated by a single lamp. The storm outside has lessened to a drizzle. He gazes at a family photo on the mantle, his expression softening with nostalgia.
The phone rings, startling him. He answers with a sigh.
JOHN
Hello?
VOICE (V.O.)
John, it’s Emily. I’m sorry for everything. Can we talk?
John’s expression shifts from surprise to a mix of hope and apprehension.
Scene 4: EXT. PARK - DAY
The sun is shining as John and EMILY (late 20s, elegant) walk along a path in a serene park. The atmosphere is calm and the trees are lush with spring foliage. They stop by a bench, both visibly relaxed.
EMILY
I’ve missed this, just talking with you.
JOHN
Me too. It feels like we’re finally getting a chance to start over.
They sit on the bench, sharing a quiet moment, their faces reflecting a sense of renewal.
Scene 5: INT. COZY COTTAGE - EVENING
The cottage is warm and inviting, with candles lit on the table. John and Emily sit at a small dining table, enjoying a homemade meal. Soft music plays in the background.
EMILY
This is perfect. It’s like old times.
JOHN
Yeah, it really is.
They exchange smiles, their hands brushing as they reach for the wine glasses, signifying a new beginning.
