Reporting Lost Items

  1. Immediate Reporting: Report lost items as soon as possible to increase the chances of recovery.

  2. Contact Information: Provide detailed contact information, including your name, phone number, and email address.

  3. Description of the Item: Give a clear and precise description of the lost item, including any distinctive features, brand, color, and approximate size.

Handling Found Items

  1. Turn In Found Items: Any found items should be turned in to the designated Lost and Found office or authority immediately.

  2. Receipt Issuance: Obtain a receipt for the found item, noting the date and time of submission.

  3. Confidentiality: Do not disclose details about the found item to anyone except the Lost and Found staff.

Claiming Lost Items

  1. Proof of Ownership: Provide proof of ownership to claim a lost item. This may include a detailed description, receipts, photographs, or other identifying information.

  2. Identification: Present a valid form of identification, such as a driver’s license, passport, or student ID.

  3. Matching Records: The Lost and Found staff will match the provided information with the records of found items.

Storage and Disposal

  1. Storage Period: Items will be stored for a period of 30 days from the date they are turned in. After this period, unclaimed items will be disposed of according to the organization’s policies.

  2. Perishable Items: Perishable items will be disposed of immediately if not claimed within 24 hours.

  3. High-Value Items: High-value items, such as electronics, jewelry, or cash, will be securely stored and may require additional proof of ownership.

Special Considerations

  1. Hazardous Items: Hazardous items, such as chemicals or weapons, should not be turned in to Lost and Found. Contact the appropriate authorities for handling such items.

  2. Confidential Information: Items containing confidential information, such as personal documents or electronic devices, will be handled with special care to protect privacy.

Responsibilities

  1. Staff Duties: Lost and Found staff are responsible for recording, storing, and returning items in a timely and secure manner.

  2. Owner’s Responsibility: It is the responsibility of the item owner to provide accurate information and claim their item within the storage period.
