INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY
The morning sun filters through the large windows of an eclectic coffee shop. Several patrons are seated, enjoying their beverages and conversations. The barista is busy making coffee behind the counter. LUCAS, a young man in his late twenties with an unkempt appearance and a nervous demeanor, enters the coffee shop and scans the room.
Lucas
(muttering to himself, anxious)
Where is she?
Lucas spots CLAIRE, a woman in her early thirties with an air of confidence, sitting at a corner table, engrossed in a book. He hesitates before walking towards her.
Lucas
(waveringly)
Claire?
Claire looks up from her book, a hint of recognition and surprise in her eyes. She gestures for Lucas to take a seat.
Claire
(warmly)
Lucas? It's been ages. Please, sit.
Lucas pulls out a chair and sits down, fidgeting with the hem of his jacket.
Lucas
(nervously)
I... I didn't think you'd remember me.
Claire
(smiling)
Of course, I remember you. How could I forget my old study buddy?
INT. COFFEE SHOP - FLASHBACK - DAY
We see a younger Lucas and Claire in a library, surrounded by piles of books. They are laughing and discussing their studies. Lucas is more relaxed and confident here.
Claire
(voiceover)
You were always so focused and determined. We had some good times, didn't we?
INT. COFFEE SHOP - BACK TO PRESENT - DAY
Lucas snaps back to the present, a wistful smile on his face.
Lucas
(softly)
Yeah, we did. Those were simpler times.
Claire leans forward, her expression turning serious.
Claire
(concerned)
Lucas, what's going on? You seem... different.
Lucas takes a deep breath, struggling to find the right words.
Lucas
(haltingly)
I... I've been going through some stuff. It's been hard to keep it together.
Claire reaches out and places a comforting hand on Lucas's arm.
Claire
(supportively)
Hey, it's okay. You can talk to me. What's been happening?
Lucas looks into Claire's eyes, seeing genuine concern and kindness there. He relaxes slightly and begins to open up.
Lucas
(sincerely)
I've been feeling lost. After college, I thought I'd have it all figured out, but... life happened. Jobs didn't work out, relationships fell apart, and I started doubting myself.
Claire listens intently, her expression empathetic. Lucas continues, feeling more at ease with each word.
Lucas
(reflectively)
I guess I just needed someone to remind me of who I used to be.
Claire smiles, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
Claire
(encouragingly)
Lucas, you're still that determined and focused person I knew. Maybe you just need to rediscover your passion and find what truly makes you happy.
Lucas nods, absorbing Claire's words. He feels a sense of relief and a newfound determination to rebuild his life.
Lucas
(gratefully)
Thank you, Claire. I think I needed to hear that.
Claire squeezes Lucas's arm reassuringly.
Claire
(smiling)
Anytime, old friend. Let's catch up more often. Maybe we can help each other find our way.
Lucas smiles back, feeling a renewed sense of hope and connection.
FADE OUT.
