4. Methodology
The sample was analyzed using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), following the ASTM D6722-11 Standard Test Method for Heavy Metals in Soil Samples. The sample was prepared by acid digestion to extract metals, followed by quantification using a calibrated mass spectrometer.
5. Quality Control
-
Blank Sample: No significant contamination was detected in the blank.
-
Calibration Standards: Metal calibration curves were linear, with correlation coefficients (R²) greater than 0.999 for all elements.
-
Replicate Analysis: The precision of the analysis, expressed as the Relative Standard Deviation (RSD), was within acceptable limits (<5%) for all metals.
6. Conclusions
The soil sample from Greenfield Agricultural Lot 17 was tested for heavy metals, and all detected metals were below the regulatory limits set for agricultural use. The soil can be considered safe for continued agricultural practices based on these results.
