Dear General Green,
I am writing to formally announce my retirement from active duty in the United States Army, effective November 30, 2055. After 30 years of dedicated service, I have decided it is time to transition to civilian life spend more time with my family, and pursue personal interests.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I have had to serve alongside dedicated professionals, particularly during my deployments in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom. These experiences have not only shaped my military career but also enriched my life with invaluable lessons and friendships that I will cherish forever.
Throughout my career, I have witnessed the strength and resilience of our troops, and it has been an honor to contribute to our mission of protecting our nation. I am proud to have played a role in mentoring younger service members and helping them navigate their paths in the military.
Please let me know if there are any formalities or processes I need to complete before my departure. I hope to attend the upcoming retirement ceremony on December 15, 2055 and would appreciate any details regarding the event. I look forward to staying in touch and wish everyone at the U.S. Army Headquarters continued success in our mission. Thank you for your understanding and support throughout my service.
Best Regards,
