Job Description:

New Hope Chapel is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join our team as a Church Treasurer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and monitoring the church's financial operations, ensuring adherence to financial regulations and tax laws, managing donations, and providing financial guidance to support the church's mission and ministries. This position requires excellent financial management skills, a high degree of integrity, and a spirit of service to our community.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The Church Treasurer will:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including income, expenses, and contributions.

  • Prepare and present regular financial reports to the church leadership or finance committee.

  • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the church leadership.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and tax laws.

  • Manage and reconcile church bank accounts.

  • Oversee the handling of cash collections during church services and events, make deposits and withdrawals as needed.

  • Record and track all donations and offerings received.

  • Provide annual contribution statements to church members for tax purposes.

  • Collaborate with the church leadership to set financial goals and priorities.

  • Provide financial guidance and recommendations to support the church's mission and ministries.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field is required. CPA or relevant certification is preferred. A minimum of 3 years' experience in financial management or related role is essential, preferably within a church or non-profit organization. Knowledge of financial regulations and laws is also required.

Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills. High-level proficiency with financial software and Microsoft Office applications, along with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary. The candidate must demonstrate discretion, as maintaining confidentiality and security of donor information is essential to this role.

Additional Requirements:

All New Hope Chapel staff members must be able to pass a background check. The Church Treasurer must be comfortable handling and accounting for cash and must be willing to work some nights and weekends for church events.
