Instagram (abbreviated as IG or Insta) is a photo and video-sharing social networking site created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in the United States. Facebook bought the service for around $1 billion in cash and stock in April 2012. Users can upload media that can be edited with filters and arranged using hashtags and geographical tagging.
Posts may be shared with the general public or with followers who have been pre-approved. Users can access trending content and search other users' content through tags and locations. Users can link their content to a personal feed by liking images and following other users. Instagram was first characterized by the fact that it only allowed content to be displayed in a square (1:1) aspect ratio of 640 pixels to match the width of the iPhone at the time. These limitations were relaxed in 2015 when the resolution was increased to 1080 pixels. The service also introduced messaging features, the ability to share multiple images or videos in a single post, and a Stories feature, which functions similarly to Snapchat's Stories feature and enables users to post photos and videos to a sequential feed, with each post available to everyone for 24 hours. Instagram has been criticized for policy and interface changes, accusations of censorship, and illegal or improper content posted by users, despite being praised for its influence.
Instagram stories are a feature on Instagram that allows users to post photos or videos that disappear after 24 hours. Create beautiful Instagram stories for your club with our Club Instagram Story Templates.
