I want to say I am truly sorry for not being able to attend your school play last night. I understand how excited you were to have me there and how disappointed you must have felt when I couldn’t make it. Please know that it wasn’t because I didn’t care—I had an unexpected work issue that I couldn’t avoid.
You worked so hard to prepare for your performance, and I am so proud of you. Missing it was my mistake, and I’ll make sure to do better next time. How about we plan a special evening this weekend where you can tell me all about the play and even perform your favorite parts for me?
