The Simple Construction Safety Checklist is designed to help identify and mitigate hazards on-site. Use this checklist daily to ensure all safety protocols are followed, enhancing the well-being of all personnel and maintaining a safe work environment.
I. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Hard Hats: All workers are wearing hard hats.

Safety Goggles: Workers are wearing safety goggles where necessary, particularly during cutting, grinding, or handling chemicals.

Gloves: Appropriate gloves are being worn for tasks involving handling sharp objects, chemicals, or hot materials.

Steel-Toed Boots: All personnel are equipped with steel-toed boots to protect against foot injuries.

Hearing Protection: Hearing protection is used in areas with high noise levels, such as near heavy machinery or during demolition activities.
II. Site Conditions

Debris Management: The site is free from unnecessary debris and obstacles that could pose tripping hazards.

Walkways: Designated walkways and access paths are well-maintained and free of obstructions.

Trenches and Holes: All trenches, holes, or excavation areas are properly covered or barricaded to prevent accidental falls.

Lighting: Adequate lighting is provided, especially in areas where work is conducted during early morning, late evening, or in enclosed spaces.
III. Scaffolding

Erection: Scaffolding has been erected by trained personnel following safety guidelines.

Inspection: Scaffolding has been inspected for stability and safety before use each day.

Guardrails: Guardrails are installed on all open sides of scaffolding platforms above certain heights.

Planking: Scaffolding platforms are fully planked and all planks are properly secured to prevent movement.
IV. Tools and Equipment

Condition: All tools are in good working condition and have been inspected before use.

Usage: Tools and equipment are being used according to manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.

Defective Tools: Any defective tools are immediately tagged and removed from service.

V. Emergency Procedures

Exit Marking: Emergency exits are clearly marked, unobstructed, and accessible at all times.

Evacuation Routes: All workers are familiar with and can easily access the site’s emergency evacuation routes.

VI. Training

VII. Fire Safety

IX. Signage

Warning Signs: Warning signs are posted in all areas with potential hazards, such as electrical panels, excavation sites, and heavy machinery areas.
